The best part is the authentic Florentine cooking! Open for dinner only, it’s nice to sit in a cool place and let someone else take care of you for the evening. The white tablecloths and sparkling stemware contrast with the black and white pictures on the wall so you might feel as if you’re having a really nice dinner in someone’s home. When you step into Franco’s, you’re greeted by an ambiance of casual elegance. Moving back to New York for his daughters who were in ballet school, then back to Arizona, he now owns Franco’s Italian Caffe which is open Tuesday through Saturday. In 1987, he made the decision to move to Arizona where he opened equally successful restaurants in Scottsdale. Over the next several years, he worked many positions in the restaurant business and finally opened many successful Italian restaurants of his own. This restaurant was destroyed in a flood, and, like many immigrants, he found himself transplanted in New York City at the age of 25. It was not until 1966 that he opened his own Trattoria in Florence. He then enlisted in the Italian Army as a paratrooper and cooked for his friends and family in his spare time. Franco first came to work in a restaurant as a dishwasher. Franco’s love for food and entertaining stemmed from a family history of Tuscan epicureans and landowners. In 1942, Franco Fazzuoli was born into the world in Florence, Italy. ![]()
